Sulfur Blue is a type of blue powder dye used for dyeing cellulose fibers such as cotton and linen.

· Basic Properties: It appears as a uniform blue-black powder and is insoluble in water.

· Solubility Characteristics: It dissolves in a sodium sulfide solution (a key step in the dyeing process). When mixed with concentrated sulfuric acid, it turns violet-blue, and upon dilution, it forms a blue-black precipitate.

· Main Applications: It is specifically used for dyeing and printing cotton, linen, and viscose fibers. Based on the shade of blue, it is available in specifications such as BN (greenish shade) and RN (reddish shade).

· Dyeing Mechanism: As a sulfur dye, it is first dissolved using a reducing agent (like sodium sulfide) to allow it to penetrate the fiber. It is then developed and fixed through oxidation (using air or hydrogen peroxide).

· Post-Treatment: Common after-treatments include anti-tendering finishing (e.g., using urea) to prevent the fiber from becoming brittle during storage, or the use of fixing agents to improve color fastness.
