Main Applications

- Biological staining: Gram staining, histology and microbiology staining

- Pharmaceutical: Used in gentian violet solution for skin and mucous membrane disinfection, active against Gram-positive bacteria

- Industrial: Dyeing for silk, wool, acrylic fibers, paper, leather; also used in inks, stamp pads, carbon paper

- Analytical chemistry: pH indicator, photometric determination of metal ions (Zn, Cd, Hg, etc.)
